New Local Service - Pharmacy First for Minor Ailments 

A new local service Pharmacy First for Minor Ailments has been introduced by the Southampton City Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).

Are you or a family member suffering with any of the following?

  • Upper respiratory tract infection (including cough, cold, ear ache)
  • Sore throat
  • Diarrhea
  • Paediatric fever
  • Constipation  
  • Headlice
  • Dyspepsia
  • Insect bites and stings 
  • Mouth ulcers
  • Haemorrhoids 
  • Nappy rash
  • Allergic rhinitis/Hay fever  
  • Vaginal thrush
  • Oral thrush adult     
  • Minor burns and scalds        
  • Conjunctivitis
  • Headache        
  • Earwax
  • Musculoskeletal pain & soft tissue injury
  • Paediatric teething
  • Athletes’ foot 
  • Cold sores
  • Threadworm
  • Contact dermatitis

Are you or your family member registered with a Southampton GP practice?

Are you or your family member eligible for free prescriptions?

If you can answer yes to the above questions, then you could utilise this new local service that is being provided by a number of pharmacies within the City.

Before trying to make a doctor’s appointment for one of the above mentioned ailments, you might want to pop along to one of the participating pharmacies for a consultation. If you are eligible for free prescription then they will be able to provide ‘over the counter’ items that you would normally seek a prescription from the doctor for.

All the pharmacies that are providing this service have gone through an accreditation process.
